At Gateway, we believe life is a long-term mission trip, and every day is a short-term mission opportunity. God's word makes it clear that it's our job to share the love of Christ with people we see every day, whether we're in our local community, or halfway across the world. And this mission not only impacts those we serve, but it is a pathway to spiritual transformation in our own lives.
As a response to the free gift of grace in Jesus Christ, we respond with gratitude by mobilizing and serving one another and those in need. By serving one another we are serving God. There are many ministries that could use your gifts and talents. If you are interested in getting plugged into one of our ministries contact Pastor Marcel at firstname.lastname@example.org to get more information.
Here are some ways to serve locally:
This team engages our guests and helps create a welcoming and safe culture at our worship service.
This team engages with the guests of major rentals creating a welcoming and safe environment, ushering, helping with sales and more.
Children & Youth Ministries
Countless men and women work to create a safe, nurturing environment for your children and youth to learn and have fun.
Our worship team leads the congregation of Gateway each week in singing songs, hymns, and spiritual songs to our Lord and God.
Our cross cultural missions program desires to train and send people on short-term trips to assist established national missionaries and ministries and provide a way for individuals to determine God’s leading for their lives in the realm of long-term ministry in a cross-cultural setting.
Our church recognizes that individuals in God’s church have differing gifts and callings. In addition to church-planting roles and gifts such as teaching, worship, discipleship and administration, we also want to encourage a vocation-based approach to serving. A vocation-based ministry is one that uses your particular training and skills in realms of service such as education, health, agriculture, or engineering to name some examples.
Our next missions project is to Guatemala from October 19-26, 2019.

The Extreme Weather Shelter was established at Gateway in 2019 as a ministry to help those less fortunate in our community. In partnership with BC Housing, Gateway Community Church provides 30 beds, hot meals, delicious coffee and laundry for our guests.
When the weather dips below zero degree during the night hours, there is any type of weather warning or there is snow on the ground, the shelter will be open from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am. The Shelter runs from November 1 - March 31.
Hours to volunteer are 7:30 pm - 12:00 am and from 12:00 - 8:00 am. There will always be a staff member on duty along with one or two volunteers. There are a variety of duties from checking in our guests, socializing, doing laundry and more.
All volunteer must meet our Safe Church Requirements as well as participate in mandatory training by the Shelter Staff.
